If ever there was a reality star who managed to successfully turn the tide of public opinion, it’s Adam Nightingale. After being widely disliked for professing his penchant for petite brunettes and the fact he wasn’t attracted to his red-headed, red-flagged wife, he has somehow managed to come out on top. But how did he do it? By having a great personality and being up for a spot of “bantaa” with fans/haters online.

I for one spent a lot of time making fun of him (Friar Tuck, mushrooms and acorns immediately sprang to mind). Rather than be publicly annoyed, he took it on the chin and joined in, sharing the memes and poking fun at himself in the process. After being appalled by the fact he’d slept with Polly and then rated her a “4″, I penned my most scathing post which was copied and pasted across Facebook by people claiming my words as their own, which was what led to me making memes, creating a logo and taking steps to secure my content. So, in a way, we have Adam to thank for my recent rise to Reality Tv Critic notoriety.

If we’re honest, most of us were on Polly’s side to begin with. She came across as confident, she was attractive and open to fully immersing herself in the experiment. She was every non-petite woman, and we saw ourselves in her. How dare a man not love her for who she is and be so blatantly honest about not fancying her! How rude! Yet, it wasn’t long before her behaviour came to the forefront. We became less and less impressed with her antics and more concerned by the fact Adam appeared to be caught up in a hostage situation. One in which he was being forced to provide sexual favours in exchange for not being called out at the Commitment Ceremonies. It was at times painful to watch as he tried to wriggle his way out of being intimate with his wife.

Much of his popularity is underpinned by the fact the public took a huge disliking to his other half. So, when the flirting began between Amdam (Amy and Adam) we were definitely here for it. We were shown a different side of both their personalities when they were in each other’s company, a lighter and more fun side and it was entertaining watching the “will they, wont they” unfold. If only to see the expression on Polly’s face as they grew closer. For now, Amdam have decided to remain friends but who knows what the future may hold. As their friendship takes root, maybe there will be some Baby Acorns on the cards.
