This week, E4 put together perhaps the most unnecessary offering in the MAFS UK franchise – The Reunion. With no real romances being formed on the series, they chose to lean into the drama and throw the messiest characters together for one last hurrah. The result was a forced dinner party with orchestrated drama, a random promise ring and a much needed apology from Holly.

The most memorable scenes were delivered by Nathan Campbell and the relentless fame hunter that is Lacey Martin. We sat back and watched in disbelief as her carefully crafted persona fell apart and we were all treated to a glimpse of what lies beneath the facade – it wasn’t pretty.

Knowing that she’d been exposed, she chose to dig her heels in, gaslighting her way through the party in the most ridiculous manner. Imploring Nathan to “put his tone down”, while using hand gestures reminiscent of Super Nanny was a particular highlight for me. That and the fact she announced she was leaving more than once but didn’t actually go. It reminded me of when people make a post to announce they’re leaving a Facebook group but stick around to read the comments and see if anyone cares.

The more she lied, the more she squirmed, it was a very uncomfortable watch. Yet, although Nathan and the rest of the cast were shocked by her behaviour, most viewers were not. Most of us by now have discovered that Lacey isn’t a stranger to Reality Tv. Both her and her sister have tried to force their way into the public eye previously but MAFS is the first time it seems to have stuck. And don’t get me wrong, I have no issue with people seeking fame and fortune or trying to better their lives, just be honest about your intentions. Otherwise, you run the risk of hurting other people and coming across as disingenuous, which is exactly what seems to have happened here.

Following the show, there were amateur dramatics on sister Paige’s Tiktok as they desperately tried to sway public opinion but it didn’t quite go as planned. Paige essentially confirmed that Lacey did say she wanted a showmance and their Momager and the UK’s answer to Kris Jenner, confirmed that her daughters just want to be famous. They also soft launched their new family podcast affectionately titled “Who Knows It, Feels It” and at this point I think we all feel it – tired! I mean, come on. Have we not suffered enough?

The most humane thing to do now would be to sever the family broadband connection. We’re going to have to save them from themselves before they go live again.
